September Opening from Blockcast.TV on Vimeo.

I’ve often said that Houston is a hard town to really get to know. Since so many of us are locked up all day in our cars or our cubicles, the opportunities for interaction take more initiative. Blockcast gives you a reason to get out and meet your city by showing you all the cool stuff that’s going on. Great idea, well-executed. Hopefully they’re around for a long time to come.

Blockcast Website | Blockcast Twitter

Blockcast.TV is a free, local, monthly video magazine that brings the best and coolest of a community together. Each edition films at several fun, educational, and interesting locations introducing our viewers to activities and businesses in their home town. With the support of the community, the collaboration of viewers and unique cultural structures found in each city, Blockcast is able to produce blocks that define each city. Blocks are the D.N.A of Blockcast, Each Block is a segment hosted by a local personality who each identify to the community in their own way. These blocks have been created to introduce viewers to the people, places and events that take place in their community.

A strong network of local sponsors, organizations and businesses that strive to support local growth by growing together. By providing an entertaining and intriguing way for our communities to network within their home region, Blockcast is able to give a fresh look on today’s society and capture the ideas and issues of today’s generations. Once a viewer decides to subscribe they are now Blockheads, and now part of the Blockcast team. Blockheads are an important part of Blockcast, by collaborating, creating and continuing to build within your community you will find your very own network to live and to prosper within.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. Do they have other locations?

  2. Luke Gilman says:

Houston is the only location I can find. Presumably they’ll expand the model into elsewhere if it takes off.

  3. Joe says:

Thanks for the writeup. We hope we are going to be around for a long time as well! Jenna – we do have plans for other locations in the near future and plan to be announcing that on the site soon. Each city we go to will be run by locals – in order to keep up with our philosophy of SLGT – Support Local, Grow Together.

    Thanks again and stay tuned…
